A Hong Kong man has been arrested in China three years after he allegedly killed his ex-girlfriend and hid her body in a wardrobe, reports say.
The suspect, a 29-year-old man surnamed Mok, was wanted in connection to the death of his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend, Dragonair flight attendant Arbe Chan.
Ming Pao reports that he was recently arrested by mainland police officers in Shenzhen, where he had been living and working illegally. Local police will discuss returning Mok to Hong Kong with their mainland counterparts.
Chan’s family found her body hidden in the wardrobe of her Tsuen Wan home on Dec. 8, 2013, after she went missing on Dec. 4. She had strangulation marks on her neck and had reportedly been dead for at least three days.
Police named Mok as a suspect after examining the building’s CCTV footage, but he had already left Hong Kong. Police offered a HKD300,000 reward for Mok’s capture in July 2014 and released his photograph to the public.
Chan and the former estate agent began dating in 2012 but police said the relationship was strained over emotional and financial disputes. SCMP reports that Mok was charged after he allegedly beat Chan in September 2013, but he was placed on a good behaviour bond and allowed to walk free.
