Hong Kong Government to pay August rent for public housing tenants

The Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) announced today that around 710,000 public housing tenants (including interim licensees) will not have to pay rent next month.

Whoopee to that!

The move comes as part of a number of one-off relief measures that Financial Secretary John Tsang proposed in his 2015-2016 budget.

The scheme was approved by LegCo’s Finance Committee in June.

”The Government will pay the rent for August for tenants and licensees of the HA paying normal rent. The HA will notify all relevant tenants and licensees of the arrangement,” a spokesman said today.
