Hong Kong columnist shares unsubstantiated rumour that domestic helper gave teenage boys HIV

A columnist for Sky Post has alleged that two teenage boys have contracted HIV by having sex with their domestic helper – even though she has no concrete evidence to back the claims up.

Lai Chi-san wrote in the column – which has since gone viral – that her friend (who was incidentally told by another friend) shared the story with her.

Here’s to hoping this is just a really screwed up urban myth.

Lai wrote that the two brothers, aged 13 and 14, revealed they had been having sexual relations with their Filipino helper after the family of four all underwent HIV tests on learning of the helper’s status.

EJI quotes figures from Queen Mary Hospital that reveal of the 105 patients diagnosed with AIDS at A&E between 2001 and 2011, seven were domestic helpers.
