Athletes representing Hong Kong at the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles were given a hero’s welcome at the airport yesterday, after winning a total of 124 medals.
The Hong Kong delegation included 65 athletes who competed in nine events, including aquatics, athletics, badminton, bocce, bowling, football, golf, gymnastics and table tennis.
The territory won 59 gold ,41 silver, and 24 bronze medals.
Secretary for Home Affairs Lau Kong-wah commended the athletes for their achievement, while Acting Deputy Secretary for Home Affairs Petty Lai and Assistant Director of Leisure and Cultural Services Richard Wong greeted them at the airport upon their return.
