Everyone’s made at least one travel faux pas – ranging from the irritating, like forgetting to check liquids over 100ml in, to the embarrassing, like having the security workers search your carry-on luggage and finding a pair of furry handcuffs.
We’re not sure this guy will be able brush his mistake off as easily as the rest of us though.
On June 12th, the HX235 flight from Shanghai to Hong Kong was delayed by nearly one and a half hours because the co-pilot forgot his own passport. The HX235 was due to fly at 7.55am, but did not take off until 9.26am.
Hong Kong Airlines told Oriental Daily that the delay was caused by air traffic control and “travel document issues” with individual crew members, but a priority passenger surnamed Fan said he overheard ground staff discussing the co-pilot’s slip up.
After asking the staff for alternative options, like flying on a different airline, Fan said the ground crew ensured him the flight would leave on time. We hope they never decide to ditch their day jobs for fortune telling.
Fan said he called the HK Airlines hotline numerous times to complain, but didn’t get a reply until a newspaper got in touch with the airline. Hong Kong Airlines says that it has taken appropriate action in the relevant departments and will review the arrangements for temporary flight changes.
They are reportedly working to improve customer service, which they acknowledged “failed to meet [their] standards.”
