Both May and June saw record high home prices in Hong Kong, with the average cosr of small to medium-sized apartments increasing the most.

And the idea of owning a home in Hong Kong becomes a more and more distant dream…

The average price of flats between the sizes of 1,000 sqft and 1,700 sqft increased by 1.2 percent compared to May, while the average price for those between 431 sqft and 752 sqft increased by 1.16 percent, reports the SCMP.

Home prices have increased by 2.1 percent so far this year, which can be attributed to “pent-up demand”, reports Reuters.

Average rents also showed a slight increase.
