HKO issues cold weather warning as temperatures dip to 11 degrees

The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) has issued a cold weather warning ahead of the long Easter weekend, as temperatures are expected to dip to 11 degrees Celsius today and tomorrow.

According to the HKO, current weather conditions on the south China coast are being caused by a northeast monsoon, and temperatures in Hong Kong this afternoon were generally five to six degrees lower than they were yesterday.

Minimum and maximum temperatures for today are 11 and 15 degrees, respectively, while temperatures tomorrow will range from 11 to 18 degrees.

It is expected to be cold and cloudy, with occasional patches of rain tonight. While it is supposed to be chilly tomorrow morning, the rain is expected to lessen throughout the day and become “fine” in the afternoon (more of a sprinkle than a deluge).

Moderate and fresh northeasterly winds are supposed to be coming our way, and Hong Kong is supposed to see a brief respite from the recent humidity early next week, as Monday and Tuesday are expected to be “fine and dry”, with (comparatively) low humidity levels ranging from 50-80 percent and 60-85 percent, respectively.
