HK7.5 million worth of smuggled cigarettes seized

It’s not hard to find duty-free cigarettes sold on the streets in Hong Kong and now we know why!

The Standard reports, after a two-week operation, two vehicles containing about HK$7.5 million worth of smuggled cigarettes were seized by customs officers.

Customs officers found the illicit cigarettes hidden in water heaters on the two vehicles and arrested four men and a woman who were involved. Five storage centres were also closed down.
