HK women have difficulty with work life balance

A survey conducted found that the biggest pressure working women face is striking a good work life balance.

The survey also found that most women were unhappy about pressure and long working hours. More than 50 percent believe that it’s hard to become promoted or a leader at work when they have a family and children. Because of this, 47 percent will focus on career development and not have children, with 14 percent saying they may never become mothers.

Cosmetic & Perfumery Association chairman Joseph Ho Shiu-ching claims that 60 percent of women don’t want kids even though 55 percent of them are married.

District councilor Scarlett Pong said women need flexible working hours, so they can take care of their children themselves instead of leaving them with domestic helpers.
