Do you remember your first time? Most of us would probably rather forget.
All the same, XXX Gallery will play host to comedy showcase ROFLMANIA’s sixth incarnation on Friday. ROFLMANIA revolves around a set theme every month, with Friday’s show called “My First Time”, which will undoubtedly make for some interesting stories.
Despite the lascivious connotations, Comedy HK insists that the comics will “be liberal with [the] theme”, and therefore we don’t have to expect “seven awkward dudes telling stories about the first time they rode a bike, or the first time they had sex, or the first time they had sex riding a bike.”
We don’t see why not. That last scenario sounds like perfect Friday night conversation to us.
Comedy HK was careful to emphasise the “storytelling” aspect of the night, since the funds raised from the show will go towards One Million Words, a charity that distributes books to underprivileged children in Southeast Asia.
The seven comics performing at ROFLMANIA are Andrew Newman (also the host, who said men couldn’t multitask?), Garron Chiu, Tamby Chan, Pete Grella, Ryan Hynek, Gus Tate, and Nick Milnes.
