Hitmen suspected of attacking former Ming Pao editor back in HK

The two men caught on CCTV, one suspected of attacking former Ming Pao editor Kevin Lau, and the other the getaway driver, were arrested in China and now handed over to the Hong Kong police.

Mainland authorities arrested the two men at the Huanggang Boundary Control Point and was held by the Guangdong Public Secuirty Department until they were handed over to the Hong Kong police. There’s no agreement between Hong Kong and the mainland but Guangdong officials agreed to transfer the suspects back to Hong Kong yesterday.

Today, the two suspects were taken back to Sai Wan Ho where Lau was brutally attacked and critically injured. The two men were asked to reconstruct the attack and the getaway.

Later in the afternoon, the suspects will be taken to a guesthouse in Kowloon Tong, where the suspects are believed to have stayed, and a shop on Shanghai Street where the suspects allegedly bought the chopper for the attack.

The suspects claim they discarded the cleaver used to hack Lau into the Sheung Shui Ng Tung Ho river – police divers are now combing the river for the weapon.

The police however, still do not know the motive for the attack.
