Did you know, more than 130 thousand working families in Hong Kong are living in poverty? Not only are they poor, their quality if life is getting worse because their wages are not catching up with inflation!
Oxfam recently interviewed 400 working families and found that over 30 per cent of them are still living under the poverty line, even though they work over 60 hours a week. Furthermore, 60 per cent of parents are forced to cut down on personal just to cover their children’s school fees.
The group is urging the government review the minimum wage every year and provide a HK$800 subsidy for children in low-income families.
