Hello Kitty restaurant to open in Yau Ma Tei

Why Hello, Kitty! Hong Kong now has its very own Japanese-English-cat-girl-themed restaurant.

(She’s not a cat, remember?)

A new Hello Kitty Chinese restaurant has had its soft opening on Canton Road in Yau Ma Tei, reports Shanghaiist.

Yesterday the started a trial period of six to 11 weeks, probably to see just how far they can infantilize Hongkongers.

The menu includes 37 dim sum, rice and noodle dishes, half of which will be shaped as Hello Kitty, because when we eat our meat, we want it cat-shaped, goddammit.

Honestly, with the overload of overly trendy restaurants popping up in every nook and cranny of Hong Kong’s, we’re almost welcome to the idea of a restaurant that’s unabashedly kitsch.

The place already has an OpenRice page, ready to receive your thoughtful reviews and photos of kitty-shaped food.
