After two stories about alleged ISIS activities in Hong Kong in the past week, there are claims that a heavily pregnant Indonesian maid has left the city to link up with the terrorist group in Syria.
The chairwoman of the Indonesian Migrant Muslim Alliance, Romlah Rosedah, said a foreign domestic worker known only as Najma borrowed money off another maid and said she was going to Syria to join Islamic State militants, along with her husband.
Rosedah admitted she had no evidence that Najma left for Syria on Feb. 27 as alleged, but claims the seven-month pregnant woman had previously asked her how she could travel to the war-torn country.
Najma is said to belong to a group of Muslim women in Hong Kong who are members of the Salafi branch of Islam.
The SCMP reports that followers of this branch of Islam are known to have joined ISIS.
However, Rafail Walangitan, an official at Hong Kong’s Indonesian consulate, said it would be impossible for Namja to travel directly from Hong Kong to Syria as visas are not issued here.
He apparently still vowed to look into it, given the existence of non-direct flights, and all.
Yesterday, a group calling itself the Mujahiddah of Islam Hong Kong denied it was recruiting for ISIS after it circulated a flier for a prayer meeting that seemed to bear the black flag of the terrorist group.

Although the meeting was eventually cancelled, the group insisted the flag is a common Muslim symbol.
In a separate incident last week, Oriental Daily claimed another flier was directly targeting Hong Kong’s domestic helpers in a bid to persuade them to join ISIS.
