Health Secretary Ko Wing-man thinks that more education and awareness about the H7N9 bird flu would do a lot of good.
Ko said that the latest case of an Indonesian domestic helper with the potentially fatal virus illustrates how little the public knows about the risks. Ko said that if there was more education on how bird flu can be contracted, there would be no way the domestic helper would have culled the chicken from Shenzhen without taking precautionary measures.
According to the RTHK, Ko said it’s important the government ramp up its publicity among ethinic minority groups about the health risks.
