It seems threats are coming from above and below for Hong Kong’s MTR passengers.
After a family of mainlanders came a cropper on the escalators at Sunny Bay Station yesterday, a woman and her two sons were injured at Tseung Kwan O Station when a ceiling in the adjoining mall collapsed on top of them.
According to Headline Daily, the 30-year-old mother sustained injuries to her feet, while her two sons escaped with scratches on their arms and faces when concrete and aluminium rained down on them near the entrance to the MTR PopCorn mall.
All were taken to hospital after the incident at around 6:50pm yesterday, but discharged later that evening.
The MTR sent staff to the hospital to apologise to the family and promised to inspect all of its malls for defective ceilings.
The PopCorn Mall has only been open for around three years. Let’s hope it’s not called the PopCorn Mall because they built the ceiling out of actual popcorn.
