Hazardous chemicals in World Cup soccer boots endorsed by stars

A study carried out by Greenpeace finds several children’s soccer boots to contain poisonous chemicals that when worn can affect the development of the reproductive system.

Nike HyperVenom boots, promoted and worn by English ace Wayne Rooney and Brazilian hero Neymar, was found to contain phthalates and dimenthylformamide (DMF). Puma and Adidas boots also contained these chemicals.

Greenpeace spokeswoman claims that these substances will affect sperm production in men and the development of the reproductive system n children.

Both Nike and Adidas have rejected Greenpeace’s claims that the products pose any health risks to consumers, reports the SCMP.
