Government worried about Hong Kong investors in Vietnam

In light of recent deadly anti-Chinese riots in Vietnam over Chinese oil drilling in a disputed area in the South China Sea, the Hong Kong government has expressed their concern for Hongkongers in the country and is hoping Vietnam authorities offer better protection to Hong Kong investors.

Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Gregory So, told legislators today that the head of Hong Kong’s Economic and Trade Office in Singapore will be heading to Vietnam tomorrow to assess the situation, reports the RTHK.

The head will also provide assistance to Hong Kong investors with vandalised or damaged factories.
