Hong Kong’s Travel Industry Council met today to decide whether group tours should go as planned to Thailand during the Chinese New Year holidays despite the country’s current political turbulence.
Joseph Tung Yiu-chung, executive director of the council, said the meeting will discuss ticket refund, even though some agencies have already cancelled tours to Thailand during the new year holidays.
LuluTrip and EGL Tours have already cancelled Thailand tours until Feb. 7 and Feb. 10 respectively – and customers were given a choice to transfer to other groups, use the tour money for future use or get a full refund.
All tours to Thailand were halted ever since the government issued a red travel alert to the country in December.
