German tourists assaulted and robbed in front of Chung King Mansions

In the early hours of yesterday morning, two German men were assaulted and robbed in front of Chung King Mansions in Tsim Sha Tsu.

The two friends, a 28-year-old named Von and a 29-year-old named Marc, had just been dropped off in a taxi at 5:30am after a night out drinking in Lan Kwai Fong, reports Apple Daily

They were staying at a hotel at 83 Nathan Road but were mistakenly taken to Chung King Mansions, which is down the street a little.

Four men of South Asian descent then reportedly attacked the pair, punching them and stealing their wallets, a phone, HKD300 and a bag containing three pieces of clothing. The victims sustained injuries to their faces, eyes and hands.

The German men chased after their attackers for about 100 metres before giving up. They approached a nearby mall security guard and asked him to call the police.

Police arrived on the scene and the two were taken to hospital for treatment.

Hung Chiu-wah, a District Council member elected by the Tsim Sha Tsui West constituency, said that he is worried the event will affect Hong Kong’s reputation with tourists.

He also claimed the multitude of South Asians and asylum seekers within the district could be causing a safety issue.
