A 54-year-old woman, Wong Mei-yi, suffered burns to her face and hands when a gas leak in her apartment in Tuen Mun caused an explosion. Wong is currently being treated at the Tuen Mun hospital.
According to officers, the gas leak happened when Wong was preparing breakfast. The explosion, blew off doors and shattered windows, and happened when she switched on a gas stove and then the kitchen and living room caught fire reports the SCMP.
Wong and her family left the flat before firefighters arrived. Authorities are still investigating what caused the gas leak.
