Fresh Delivery: Customs seize 88 iPhones hidden in truck’s refrigerated containers

We knew iPhones are for the cool kids, but who knew they had to be literally chilled?

Customs seized 88 iPhones (guess that number wasn’t auspicious enough) and 4,412 CPUs – worth about HKD4.5 million in total – from an outbound truck at the Lok Ma Chau border control point on Thursday.

The smuggled goods were hidden the trucks’ two refrigerated containers.

The driver, 60, was arrested and released on bail pending further investigation.

Importing or exporting unmanifested cargo is a crime punishable by a fine of HKD2 million and seven years’ prison.
