A mainland swindler pretended to be a wealthy guest and checked into the Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong. He however, made off quietly without paying after thoroughly enjoying its facilities and stealing HK$60,000 worth of goods from the five-star hotel.
After making a reservation online and checking in, the 34-year-old mainland Chinese man, surnamed Hu, put down his credit card for deposit and then proceeded to wine and dine at the hotel’s restaurants, racking up a bill of HK$34,000.
During his stay he also rented two laptop computers (worth about HK$15,000 each), speakers, and a coffee machine that retails for HK$30,000 and made off with those.
It turned out that the credit card he provided had already been maxed out but by the time hotel staff got wise, the room had long been empty and the rented items gone. Apparently, someone saw this thief sneaked out around 8:30pm with a big bag. It sure sounded like this thief enjoyed himself!
