In light of pneumococcal infection already taking the lives of a number of young children in Hong Kong as we reported on here, the government has finally arranged a booster vaccination programme to provide children with free vaccines.
Starting today, children aged between two to five who have never taken pneumococcal injections will be first eligible for the 13-valent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV-13) for free.
A similar subsidy programme with private doctors will start later next month.
The government reassures there are ample supplies of the vaccine, so parents need not worry!
