A taxi driver and his four passengers were arrested in the early hours of this morning after they got into a brawl over seatbelts.

According to HK01, a 58-year-old taxi driver surnamed Leung picked up four female passengers on Nathan Road in Yau Ma Tei at around 3am.

But hell broke loose when Leung refused to start the vehicle because the four women refused to fasten their seatbelts.

Video of the melee posted on Apple Daily this morning shows the women pulling at Leung’s red shirt and swearing at him while his vehicle was parked by the roadside.

HK01 reported that items were even thrown at the vehicle, and one of the women reportedly threw Leung’s cash box onto the road.

Police arrived at the scene shortly afterwards, and arrested Leung, and four women aged 32 to 46-years-old surnamed Lee, Ko, Law, and Wong.

All five were arrested on suspicion of assault, Lee was arrested additionally on suspicion of criminal damage, while Law was also arrested for not showing proof of identity.

Leung was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment, while the four women were treated at the scene and refused hospital treatment. HK01 reports that all five people sustained minor injuries
