Former managing editor of HK Magazine launches free health and wellness publication

When you finish a stressful day at the office, do you reach for a beer or a yoga mat? If you’re in the latter crew, we’ve got something to add to your reading list.

While several print media publications have folded in Hong Kong in recent months, Sarah Fung, the former managing editor of HK Magazine, is taking a brave, Lycra-clad leap, introducing a brand new health and wellness magazine all of her own.

Launching yesterday with an initial print run of 10,000 copies, Liv Magazine is aimed at Hong Kong’s health-conscious professionals, a segment of society that Fung says has grown exponentially in recent years.

The monthly magazine will predominantly feature stories on fitness, nutrition and wellbeing, and will be distributed free at health-related venues throughout Hong Kong, although mainly in the Central business district.

We’ve got a feeling you might find one or two knocking around Pure SoHo, for example.

“Hong Kong’s professional elite are turning away from their traditionally excessive lifestyles like never before. They are channeling their energy into health and fitness”, says Fung, who wrote HK Magazine’s “Skin Deep” health and beauty column for five years.

“People are realising that their health is their most important investment, particularly in a city like Hong Kong where stress, pollution and big entertainment budgets can take their toll.”
