Former British armed forces and NATO commander to give insightful lecture in Hong Kong

For those of you looking for tips on how to command an army, or just how to get your kids in order, look no farther – General Lord David Richards, former head of the British Armed Forces and commander of NATO in Afghanistan, is coming to Hong Kong.

In a lecture focussed on his operational command of international armies, in both the military and political spheres, Richards will also speak about his time serving in East Timor, Sierra Leone, Germany and Northern Ireland.

Under his command, British troops protected Freetown from rebel forces during the civil war in Sierra Leone and increased influence in conflicted regions in the Middle East.

Since he left his post, Richards has served as aide-de-camp general to Queen Elizabeth and senior advisor to the International Institute for Strategic Studies.

In short, not someone you’d challenge to a game of Risk.

Hear Richards tell his many military anecdotes in this enlightening, amusing and often controversial lecture, hosted by Hong Kong’s Royal Geographical Society.
