First case of Middle-East Respiratory Syndrome in HK

A 73-year-old man is suspected to have contracted Middle-East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), experiencing fever, cough and shortness of breath after a trip to Iran.

According to the Centre for Health Protection, the man travelled to Iran Feb. 2-8 with his family. He is currently being isolated at the Princess Margaret hospital and his family have not shown symptoms of MERS.

If the man is confirmed to have MERS, it would be the first known case in Hong Kong.
