A fire broke out in a storeroom in a government building in Central Tuesday morning, forcing over 200 people to evacuate to the ground floor.

The first alarm fire broke out in a ground floor storeroom of the Harbor Building on Pier Road around 11 am, according to the Hong Kong Economic Times. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes of arriving on the scene.

A police spokeswoman told Coconuts HK that the suspected cause was a short circuit, and that workers were allowed to return to their offices. No other suspicious circumstances were found.

The Harbour Building is home to several government departments, including Home Affairs, Labour and Information Services.
