A 55-year-old Filipino woman died in hospital this morning hours after she was hit by a car in Tai Po last night.

According to Ming Pao, the woman was hit by a Honda with a ‘P’ plate that was driving along Ting Kok Road towards Tai Mei Tuk at around 11pm last night.

The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, collided with the safety island and its traffic light, and hit the woman, sending her flying about 10 meters, Apple Daily reports.

The woman — whom Apple Daily reports is a domestic worker — was rushed to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin, but she died at around 6am this morning.

Photos posted online, which some readers may find upsetting, show the vehicle flipped on its side, with the woman lying on her side.

The 38-year-old male driver of the private car sustained minor injuries in the collision. He was helped out of the vehicle by firefighters and taken to hospital for treatment.

Police are still investigating, and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
