They may be thousands of miles away and protesting over something completely different, but people on the streets of Ferguson, Missouri, are showing their support for Hong Kong’s democracy campaign. Cheers guys!
Photos of the Americans, who are still hitting the streets every night in the town of Ferguson to protest against the police shooting of unarmed black youth Mike Brown almost two months ago, were last night brandishing signs telling Hong Kong to “stay strong” in both English and Chinese.
The Ferguson lot have no doubt found parallels between their own “Hands Up! Don’t Shoot!” motto and the Hong Kong protestors’ method of raising their hands to police as show of non-violence.
Hong Kong’s Occupy Central campaign is hitting the streets for a second official night following a week of student protests. Last night, police fired multiple rounds of tear gas into the crowd and arrested dozens of people.
