A mother and her two young daughters were killed in a fire at a subdivided flat in Tai Po early Monday morning.
The 42-year-old woman, and two girls aged 7 and 10, were unconscious when police and firefighters arrived at the fifth-floor flat in Mei Wan Building around 2 am, according to HK01.
A 62-year-old man, surnamed Yiu, was repeatedly banging his head against a fire door. He eventually slipped into a semi-conscious state.
Around 10 residents had to be evacuated as firefighters put out the blaze. Police believe the cause of the fire was suspicious, and initial investigation suggests that the man and women were having an argument over their relationship.

Neighbors said they heard quarrelling coming from the flat before the fire broke out.
The three females, who also had stab wounds on their bodies, were certified dead at the hospital. Yiu was arrested on suspicion of murder and arson, RTHK reported.
A man who works at a restaurant near the building said he knows the mother and two daughters and would greet them when he sees the family, but that he has not seen the man before.
