After being in Hong Kong for three years, Facebook decided that they needed an upgrade. They may be far from Facebookâs literally Disney-inspired headquarters in Palo Alto, California, but they decided that wasnât going to stop them from having a super hip and luxurious offices befitting of the hoodie-wearing Mark Zuckerbergâs employees.
They now occupy an 11,000 sq ft space on the 60th floor of One Island East, thatâs been decked out with furniture more suitable for a big college house party rather than maximum work productivity, reports Marketing Interactive. Cool graffiti with a Hong Kong flair adorn the walls an eclectic collection of couches and coffee tables sit on top of a plush carpet.
Hungry? No problem. Thereâs a sweet open kitchen that puts your home kitchen to shame. Feel like gazing at the stars? No problem either! Hereâs a cozy loveseat and telescope in a corner of the windows. Need to get your blood moving to focus better? Donât worry, just hop on this high-tech treadmill-standing-desk with one of the best views in town. Or maybe this massage chair will get your circulation going.
If itâs any consolation, it might all be more of a PR gimmick than anything, because the staff desks, arranged in parallel rows, look pretty normal and boring. Plus, even the softest of couches gets pretty uncomfortable if you try to work while sitting on one.
Dan Neary, VP of Facebook Asia Pacific, said that theyâre expanding the Facebook offices in Hong Kong in order to increase the opportunities for businesses to interact with users.
