An English teacher has been detained for allegedly sending pornographic pictures and videos of children to two students at a Tuen Mun tutorial center he worked at.

Police received reports from two parents who said a man had sent illicit photos and clips to their children over the weekend, HK01 reported.

On Monday, police arrested a 39-year-old foreigner at a village in Tin Shui Wai on a suspected charge of publishing child pornography. Officers also seized a computer from his home.

The children involved are 10 and 11 years old. The man allegedly sent the inappropriate photos to the 10-year-old during a Zoom lesson, and texted the photos and videos to the 11-year-old after he asked for her number on grounds that he was passing her assignments.

One of the parents informed the learning center about the teacher’s behavior. When questioned by a manager, he did not admit to sending the illicit content refused to hand over his phone to be checked. The teacher was subsequently fired from the center.

Village residents told Apple Daily that the man has lived there for years with his Chinese wife, and that they do not have children. He is believed to be from New Zealand and holds a Hong Kong identity card.
