Expat arrested for dangerous driving after hitting and killing Hong Kong road worker

Police are seeking information from the public after an expat man knocked down and killed a Hong Kong road worker with his car.

The incident happened at around 4:50pm on Monday as the 36-year-old man drove uphill on Hong Lok Yuen Street in the New Territories.

After reportedly crossing into the opposite lane, he knocked down a 43-year-old man who was carrying out roadworks on the pavement.

The victim sustained serious head injuries and was rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in an unconscious state.

He was certified dead at 5:44pm.

The expat, whose exact nationality has not yet been revealed, was arrested for dangerous driving and detained for questioning.
