An elderly man was spotted riding an electric wheelchair down a highway near Cheung Sha Wan Monday morning, forcing cars and double-decker buses on the busy road to slow down to avoid a collision.

A video shared to Facebook showed the grey-haired man, wearing a mask and slippers, driving on the inner-most lane of the three-lane highway just before 11am. According to the post, he was headed in the direction of Tsuen Wan.

Another photo, reposted by Apple Daily, showed the man driving in the middle lane, with vehicles around him maintaining a reasonable distance. The outlet estimates that he may have driven at least 8km on the highway alone.

Several drivers on the road reported the incident to police, but officers were unable to locate the man when they arrived.

Earlier this month, police arrested a 30-year-old foreigner who rode an electric scooter through Tseung Kwan O tunnel amid a sea of cars. He was suspected of driving without a valid license, driving an unlicensed vehicle, and driving without third-party insurance.
