An elderly man who had received the COVID-19 jab earlier in the week died at a hospital Sunday, Apple Daily reported, becoming the third case of post-vaccination death in the city.
According to the local media outlet, his wife called for help when she woke up and realized her 71-year-old husband was unconscious.
Medical personnel who arrived at their home were not able to detect the man’s pulse. He was brought to United Christian Hospital, where he died about an hour later.
The man is not believed to have had underlying health issues, Apple Daily reported. He received the China-made Sinovac jab at a private doctor’s clinic on March 3.
On Saturday, a 55-year-old woman died of a cardiac arrest four days after being vaccinated. The Sunday before, a 63-year-old man who received the vaccine on Feb. 26, the first day of the city’s vaccination drive, passed away.
Reports about adverse health events following vaccination have led to a decline in bookings for the long-awaited COVID-19 jab.
The latest fatality brings the total number of post-vaccination deaths to three. Over 93,000 people have received their first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, authorities said.
