On-duty constable found with chest gunshot wound, police investigate attempted suicide

A male senior police constable has been hospitalised after a suspected suicide attempt while he was on duty, according to a government press release.

At around 8.20pm on Saturday, the unidentified officer was reportedly found with a gunshot wound to his chest in a men’s bathroom at Ngau Tau Kok Station, where he is stationed as part of the division’s Patrol Subunit.

Initial investigation suggests that the constable had attempted suicide with his service revolver.

The constable has been sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital to receive treatment while Sau Mau Ping District’s Crime Squad investigates the case.
