Driver arrested for dangerous driving after coach full of school kids knocks over elderly man

Police have arrested a coach driver after his vehicle knocked over an elderly man who was crossing the road in Aberdeen this morning.

According to Headline Daily, the incident happened at around 8am when a coach carrying about 28 school children and two minders drove along Wu Nam Street before turning into Tung Sing Road.

It was at this point that the coach struck an 82-year-old man who was crossing the road, and the lower part of his body was caught underneath the left wheel of the vehicle.

Firefighters arrived at the scene shortly afterwards to free the elderly man and get the passengers off the coach so that they could go to school

Apple Daily reports that an 82-year-old man surnamed Fung was taken to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment after he was freed by firefighters.

A 52-year-old coach drivers surnamed Cheung was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving causing serious injury to others, and as of this afternoon is still being detained for investigation.
