Don’t drink and drive: Breathalyzers in all police stations before 2014

Chief Secretary Carrie Lam told the RTHK that before the end of 2013, breathalyzers will be available at all police stations.

This is in response to a report by the Legco’s Public Accounts committee in July, where many drunk drivers were not prosecuted because one-third of police stations were not equipped with breathalyzers.

In August drivers must be secreened at the scene and the station within 75 minutes, 15 minutes shorter than the prior 90 minutes. Police will be converting a vehicle into a mobile breath testing centre for trial in December.
