A shipping box with valuable donor corneas inside were found abandoned at the stairwell of Pacific Place by a security guard, reports The Sun.
When the police inquired after the addressee, a man surnamed Wong said that the donor corneas were shipped not for an operation but because an ophthalmologist friend wanted to test whether the length of time for shipping from the eye bank in the United States to the mainland via Hong Kong would be faster thatn directly sending it to the PRC.
Since they’ve figured out the shipping times, there was no need for the corneas, so he threw it away.
