Doctor suspended for prescribing date rape drug to patients

A registered Western doctor who has practiced for nearly 30 years was recently charged for indiscriminately prescribing the date rape drug Rohypnol, a sedative that is highly addictive, to at least three patients.

After three patients complained about being prescribed Rohypnol, the doctor, surnamed Wong, has been charged with professional misconduct and his license to practice suspended for two years.

One patient, who is now 24, said that the doctor saw him for a mere three minutes and prescribed 30 Rohypnol pills to him every 15 days. He became violent and injured people, which he told Dr. Wong about, but he continued prescribing him the drug. Another patient became deeply addicted after being prescribed Rohypnol and got into four car accidents in a year. The drug also rendered him unable to function normally at work.
