The 27-year-old driver of a delivery van died this morning after his vehicle slammed into the back of a roadworks truck in a horrific predawn collision in Tuen Mun.
The incident happened at about 4:20am on Tuen Mun Road near Yuk Hong Street, according RTHK.
The SCMP reported that the road maintenance truck was parked in the fast lane when it was struck by the delivery van.
The impact of the crash caused serious damage to the van though, remarkably, a front passenger freed from the wreckage by firefighters was unhurt.
The van driver, identified in reports as Yu Ka-hin, 27, was declared dead at the scene.
The 24-year-old old driver of the a road maintenance truck suffered head injuries and was sent to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment.
