Deliveroo purchases huge fleet of speed boats to bring takeout to Hong Kong’s junk-goers

We’ve all been there. You’re lazing around on a floaty out the back of a junk boat when suddenly you get an irresistible urge for a Genie juice, and Emack & Bolio’s ice cream or a Butcher’s Club burger.

Well, resist no more! Starting on April 1st, Hong Kong’s most committed food delivery gurus, Deliveroo, will happily transport even tiny, single items such as these directly to your junk boat, wherever you happen to be in the territory’s vast waters.

With its impressive fleet of 100 brand new high-speed powerboats that rival any James Bond movie, Deliveroo has gone beyond phones, drones and automobiles to bring hungry junk-goers their favorite treats at torpedo speed.

And just as with their on-land operations, Deliveroo’s water drop-offs are also expected to be completed within an average time of 32 minutes, whether you’re bobbing around Hong Kong Harbor or all the way out in the farthest flung beaches of Sai Kung.

And whether you’re ordering an ice cream or a hot pot, the team guarantees your items will arrive at the perfect temperature thanks to state-of-the-art freezing and heating systems onboard every vessel.

Deliveroo can handle multiple orders from each junk, so no need to club together and deal with the hassle of splitting the bill. Every delivery will be assigned a different boat; imagine 30 speedboats turning up to hand a fresh, chilled coconut to everyone on your junk! Pretty cool, and not at all a waste of time and energy.

Deliveroo currently boasts more than 350 partner restaurants all across Hong Kong, so you’ll never again have to quell a craving just because you happen to be on a boat. Really, who wants to live like that?

To find out more about this awesome new offering which begins on April 1, keep an eye on the Deliveroo Facebook page for a special announcement later that day!

April Fools! But don’t worry, you can pre-order hot and tasty breakfasts from HK-faves such as Classified, Double D, Mana Café, BeJuiced, Viet Kitchen and more, delivered right to the pier so you and your crew can kick off junk day with satisfied stomachs! Don’t forget to quote “APRILFOOLS” to get HKD100 off your first Deliveroo Order!”
