Deadly Ferrari crash in Yau Ma Tei claims life of security guard

A car crash that took place Tuesday morning in Yau Ma Tei claimed the life of a car park security guard.

The crash occurred around 8 am at the ground floor entrance of a car park on Austin Road West in Yau Ma Tei, when a HKD 4.5 million Ferrari, which hit another vehicle before slamming into plastic barriers and hitting the 53-year-old guard. The guard was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei for multiple fractures and was pronounced dead at around 2 pm.

Robert James Ebert, driver of the Ferrari, and the driver in the other vehicle were unhurt. Ebert claimed that his car caused the collision due to a brake problem, reports the SCMP. Officers from the Kowloon West special traffic investigation team have launched an investigation into the incident.
