Dead cat in suspected abuse case now believed to have been mauled by an animal

On Monday morning a man came across a dead cat while jogging in Kwai Chung’s Shek Yam Lei Muk Road Park.

The little 14-inch-long cat, at first suspected to have been abused to death, is now believed to have been mauled by another animal, reports Oriental Press.

The feline was found with wounds on its body, its organs spilling onto the grass. For some reason the jogger suspected the animal was tortured by a human and killed in cold blood. He notified the park staff and called the police.

The police arrived on the scene and the SPCA took the carcass away for further investigation.

The organisation concluded that the cat was an adult female, and that its wounds are consistent with an animal attack and not abuse.
