Dead air-con technician, 45, found in his flat 10 days later

The decomposing corpse of an air-conditioning technician, aged 45, was discovered in his Chai Wan flat on Wednesday evening, 10 days after the day he is believed to have died.

After the Housing Department was unable to contact the tenant, surnamed Cheung, about a foul odour emanating from the Tsui Wan Estate flat, staff got in touch with the man’s brother, reports Oriental Daily.

At 10pm on Wednesday, he visited Cheung’s flat and was shocked to find his brother dead in the living room.

According to the police, Cheung had probably died 10 days before he was discovered, judging from the bloated state of the body and based on an analysis of the maggots found in his corpse.

Because of the apartment’s good ventilation, it took longer than usual for the body to be found.

Cheung had a history of high blood pressure.

The police do not suspect any foul play in his death, and an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
