A video of a wild boar’s tragic encounter with a fast-moving minibus made the rounds on social media Wednesday.

Dashcam footage dated Tuesday night shows a green minibus driving on Sha Tau Kok Road in the northeastern New Territories.

Suddenly, a wild boar appears from the side and dashes across the road, where it is promptly hit by the minibus and sent flying.

The boar skids to the opposite lane and spins on its back, violently hitting the car that was recording the dashcam footage before dropping to the ground.

In the clip, the boar is seen twitching with its fate unclear.

The video was shared by a YouTube channel called Camvideo HK, which regularly dashcam videos of accidents and other road incidents. The video description credited the clip to Leo Leung.

According to HK01, the police did not receive a report about the incident.

This is one of many recent accidents involving wild boars, according to HK01. Last Saturday night, a motorcycle in Tseung Kwan O ran over a baby boar, killing it instantly. The driver was also injured.

At around 4am on Oct. 19, two wild boars were seen walking towards the Western Harbor Tunnel in Sai Wan. A worker attempted to drive the boars away by shining torches at them, but the body of a dead boar—presumably hit by a vehicle—was found near the tunnel about three hours later.
