The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department has cracked down on the import of crappy chocolate milk from the Netherlands said to contain more poo particles than legally allowed.
In a moment of panic yesterday, the CFS banned the import and sale of UHT Chocolate Milk Beverage by DailyDutch, after the Centre discovered that the colony count (aka poo content) of a particular sample exceeded the legal limit.
Clearly, the Dutch crooks relied on the product’s convenient colour to camouflage the issue. And yes, you are legally allowed some poop particles in your product.
A spokesman for the CFS tried to play down the possible impact of this crisis by saying that food poisoning was probably off the cards. He implied instead that the results nearly suggest “unsatisfactory hygienic conditions”. No shit…
On being informed of the issue, the importer from the Netherlands reassured the CFS that all potentially poo-infested products were being stored in their warehouse and had not yet been flushed into the market.
However, as there were two other milk products of the same brand in the dodgy import, the CFS has gathered samples of the whole range of products for testing.
Cautious Coconauts should probably add choco milk to the dry Jan list.
