Fancy yourself as one of the fittest cross-fitters in Hong Kong? Why not leave your gym for once and test yourself with some gruelling physical challenges out in the real world?
Following a successful inaugural event in 2014, international disaster relief charity ShelterBox will host the IP Global TriChallenge – a three part physical contest across land, air and sea – in Hong Kong this December.
If that doesn’t sound hard enough already, note that challengers will have the added handicap of carrying hugely cumbersome ShelterBoxes on their backs to simulate the difficulties faced by the charity’s response teams when delivering vital shelter supplies to communities in crisis.
Contestants can sign up to participate individually or in a team of four, which could turn out to be more or less challenging, depending on who your teammates are.
Taking place at Sai Kung Country Park on Dec. 5, the event will see individual competitors will face an abseil race, a weighted sprint and a standup paddleboard race across 16 kilometres. Meanwhile, teams of four will race across 10 kilometres in a sedan chair race, raft building, a relay and an abseil race.
Awards include the fastest athlete, top fundraiser and most outstanding outfit.
